The Pierre Claeyssens Award for Distinguished Service was created
to recognize and showcase extraordinary individuals and institutions
for their selfless contributions and commitments to community
service. The individuals should have volunteered their own time
to enhance and improve the quality of life and opportunity for
individuals or other groups in the community.
Criteria
for Award:
- The
nominees shall be outstanding individuals who have been involved
in community service such as boards, commissions, advisory councils,
capital campaigns, advocacy groups or other effective community
groups and shall have demonstrated a sustained commitment to
their communities.

The nominees shall be perceived by the public in their communities
as effective leaders, compassionate individuals and model citizens.

The nominees shall demonstrate, through their civic involvement,
how the quality of life in their community has enhanced.

The nominees shall be committed to excellence in his/her chosen
field and to directly help meet community vital needs.

The nominees should have generated a high level of goodwill
and respect amongst those they serve and the community as a
whole.

The nominees should have a proven track record of active involvement
in the community, normally over a period of at least five years
or more, for the social, economic, educational, environmental
or spiritual wellbeing of local individuals or groups.

The nominee’s personal life mission shall be congruent
with the mission, philosophy and vision of Emmaus of Santa Barbara
and Pierre Claeyssens for a more livable community.

The nominees must have demonstrated a special concern for the
wellbeing of teens and/or young adults.
