2007 Award Recipient:
The Andy & Dolly Granatelli Family

Frank & Katherine MillerSince Andy and Dolly Granatelli retired to Santa Barbara twenty years ago, they have given the city countless hours of their time, extensive financial resources, boundless energy, and passionate fund raising talent. They are involved in over 100 local organizations, some of which include Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Unity Shoppe, United Boys and Girls Clubs, Girls Incorporated, Rehabilitation Institute of Santa Barbara, Fighting Back Youth Mentoring Program. One might think that after a lifetime of peerless accomplishments in the driver’s seat of both corporations and race-cars, Andy would be ready for a break, but his record here in Santa Barbara shows that time has not in any way shrunk his considerable talents. There rarely exists a local charitable event that is not attended by him, chaired by him, sponsored by him, or hosted by him.

A vivacious and aggressive fundraiser, he solicited $250,000 in donations to the Rehabilitation Institute of Santa Barbara in less than 30 minutes serving as the celebrity auctioneer. He is an especially outspoken supporter of programs that aid disadvantaged and wayward children, as well as programs that aid the families of police and firemen injured or killed in the line of duty. Andy and Dolly have done more than just give back: they’ve made it their personal mission to solicit aid for our community, and to lend the neediest among us their strength.
