Emmaus is pronounced 'ee-may-us'.
Our working definition of "Emmaus" is Hospitality -
A place where people feel safe. We believe that without a feeling
of safety and hospitality, people will not change. We provide
an environment for honest self-disclosure and being "real."
We feel this will in turn allow you to put your life in order
and empower you.
To get information on a specific Emmaus of Santa Barbara program
or Volunteer opportunities either use our Volunteer Page located
on this site or contact the Headquarters directly. The address,
e-mail, phone number and fax are available at the Contact Us page.
The best thing you can do for someone you think can benefit from
our programs is to encourage the person to seek us out. We suggest
that you recommend our programs and website to the person and
support him/her in any decision that they make. Our programs are
geared primarily to those who have come to accept the fact that
they need help in making the necessary changes in their lives.
Absolutely NOT! Emmaus of Santa Barbara is neither a religious
or political organization. Our organization is not an affiliate
of any religious or political organization.
Yes! We believe that we cannot work effectively with teens and
young adults if the parents are not also educated and informed.
To that end, we provide regular workshops and conferences to parents
and guardians. To get specific information on such workshops,
it is best to click on Workshops in the Program Directory.
Yes, at Emmaus of Santa Barbara, we offer numerous opportunities
for ongoing personal growth and development. We call this program
Turning Point. Turning Point deals with the topics, issues and
challenges a person may face as they journey through life.
