Emmaus retreats are an integral part
of the overall process. Both Break the Cycle and Peer Leadership
use the retreat to break through the initial tension and
inhibitions that many of the participants exhibit. We feel
that only after breaking down these walls will the participant
truly be able to change.
What
Are the Retreats About?
Emmaus retreats are facilitated by a
student staff (Peer Leaders) along with Team Emmaus to give
students a chance to get away from the usual routine of
their lives and to then spend quality time in quiet reflection,
deep sharing and self-disclosure in an environment of hospitality
and safety. This time apart with others on the same path
to personal transformation allows them to meet new people
and make life-long friends.
