Program
Overview
Project
Insight is a Life Management System that begins with a three day
mountain retreat experience and continues on campus with a variety
of structured activities designed to give participants profound
insights that will plant the seeds of choice and responsibility
deep within their consciousness. As these seeds are nurtured through
the supportive community provided by Emmaus staff and Tour guides,
they will take root to form the organizing principles around which
participants can transform their lives. The program is designed
to foster the exploration and practice of personal and inter-personal
growth while establishing a viable community of support for college
students.
Objectives
- To introduce
the program participants to the nature and process of human personal
development and growth.
- To provide
the program participants with experiential exercises and knowledge
in order for them to be able to make the necessary changes in
their lives for healthy self-integration
- To help program
participants uncover, explore and eradicate the unconscious belief
system that creates self-doubt, fear, failure and insecurity in
their lives.
- To empower
program participants to create positive change in their lives.
Long-Term
Goals
- Learn to
harmonize and integrate life experiences.
- Draw out,
track and eliminate negative behavior patterns and cycles
- Heal the
past and improve relationships
Take
Away Value
- Gain new
insights into life-giving principles of responsibility, accountability,
Integrity and self-discipline.
- Be provided
a safe place for the development of community, self-knowledge,
self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-creation.
- Understand
what it takes to achieve personal and academic success in today's
fast paced society.
Program
Plan
Participants
are officially enrolled in PROJECT INSIGHT for one academic year-
from September through May, depending on individual need. Each participant
is assigned a group of Team Leaders and
a Life Journey Tour Guide who will help
guide, support and nurture their growth and development in small
groups and individually.
Program
Activities
Participants
in PROJECT INSIGHT must attend the initial three-day community building
mountain retreat experience. This fosters
a sense of belonging, acceptance and trust, which are necessary
ingredients for change and growth. Participants must complete a
standard curriculum of educational and
experiential materials, as well as written assignments, which are
accomplished on an individual basis or in small groups. They are
required to attend a minimum of four of the seven monthly
workshops, one of three program designed social events,
two individual one-on-one guidance sessions.
Attendance at Emmaus aftercare, Relapse Prevention
lectures, and Turning Point workshops are strongly
recommended as ongoing structured life-management work. Lastly,
each individual must meet with a trained program staff member prior
to the conclusion of the program in order to assess growth, behavior
change and determine readiness for graduation. |
